The concept: create an action figure box/collector's item for a deceased hero of mine, Jay Adams, one of the original "street surfers".
The Logo: The overall shape is the combination of the unique shape of old school skateboards and the shape of the trucks (the metal axel underneath) and the wheels.
The font treatment is meant to channel the Santa Monica area and also an official seal-type of style for the "masters" and "series".
The color palette is inspired from the colored layers of wood found in the skateboard itself.
*FUN FACT: skateboards are made with about 7-8 layers of wood, usually pine
